                                                        Artist’s Statement

      An American art statue
should be a plastic figurine charged with eroticism and indifference.
The American audience needs a superhero:  a coping mechanism designed for the
displacement of  their personal desires and fantasies; an icon that caters to their artificial
environment and their individualism.  The American painter, therefore, should incorporate as
many plastic objectives, borrowed from the history of art, as he or she can execute.

I just want to help create a shift in the Lancaster,  PA thought paradigm that shies away from
farm and cityscapes, and quilt influenced abstractions, and looks more to the human figure for
composition and resolution.  Art, as a social tool for self-reflection and change, can force an
audience to learn about themselves from the rendering and articulation of human psychology
and physiology.  I’m convinced a strong figurative influence can maximize the creative potential
of our intellectual community, and provide the social and political reform necessary for a
Lancaster renaissance.  The economics required to develop and sustain such an artistic leap
can be generated by the craftsmen themselves, so long as the reputation and tradition of our
high art and architecture can remain, in scope of the ever-changing, global art community,
masterful and progressive.”  – Jason Dean Lichty
